The Sacrament of Baptism is a public celebration done as part of a regular liturgy of the church.  It is a joyful occasion for the congregation to welcome its newest member and the whole church shares responsibility for the individuals future Christian education.

Holy Baptism is appropriately administered within the Eucharist as the chief service on a Sunday or on the following feasts days:

  • The Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany)

  • The Easter Vigil

  • The Day of Pentecost

  • All Saints’ Day

  • The Sunday after All Saints’ Day

It is recommended that, as far as possible, Baptisms be reserved for these occasions or when a bishop is present.   The season of Lent is a time of reflection and penitence. Therefore, Baptism is not offered during the season of Lent.
